Córrego Cincinatina in Marília in the 1950s

Por volta de 1950, na baixada da Rua Pernambuco passava um córrego, que dava p'ra gente molhar os pés aos domingos. Eu morava na Avenida Independência, entre as ruas Paraná e Mato Grosso, então era um tiquinho de casa. 

Na foto, à frente eu (Oswaldo Mendes) no centro e à minha esquerda Irineu Bisterço Filho - atrás dele, de preto, minha mãe (Conceição) e do lado dela a dona Ida Bisterço, minha madrinha e mãe do Irineuzinho, com a filha Lúcia do lado esquerdo. (Arnaldo e Elza Birterço são os irmãos não presentes aqui). 

O casal à esquerda e seus 3 filhos, sei que eram nossos vizinhos, mas não consigo identificar. 

Arnaldo Nunes escreve: Beleza de foto e ótimo registro do córrego. Após cair no timbé, ou grotão, e correr em direção à Dirceu, esse riachinho (hoje bem poluído) passa a ser o Córrego Cincinatina, junta-se ao Córrego Cascata e desaguam no Tibiriçá. 

Até o início dos 1960s era possível pescar mandis, tambius, lambaris, piramboias, traíras, bagres e até mesmo um ou outro piau. 

Esse córrego passa onde era uma fazenda de meu avô e ainda era limpo. Ao lado da ponte, antes da subida para Dirceu, havia porto de areia e no verão, muita gente ia nadar ali, tendo havido até mesmo morte por afogamento. Hoje a água não chega ao joelho, mas pode matar por envenenamento.
